Gold’s Project • This is the first and still most widely used for blood tests for certain types of cancer. • Phil Gold and his partner Samuel Freedman discovered carcino-embryonic antigen which is produced in tumours and fetal embryonic gut, pancreas, and liver cells. • A blood test was developed that can indicated the presence, spread or re-occurrence of cancer.
