Helpful tips • Use a timer or other gadget to help get homework started. • Develop a homework contract to establish expectations. • Set realistic estimates for time necessary to complete tasks. • Break down long-term projects into manageable tasks. • Utilize privileges to reward desired behavior. • Create written reminders to replace verbal requests & nagging.

  4. SAMPLE Homework Agreement I agree to: • Do a full 60 minutes of Designated Homework Time Monday – Thursday. If I don’t have 60 minutes worth of homework, I will organize, read, and study. • Show the completed work to an adult. • Write down my homework assignments. My parents can ask for verification at any time. In exchange for the above, my parents agree to: • Stop nagging me about my homework. • Let me hang out with my friends until 7pm. • Add ___ to my allowance at the end of the week if I’ve followed all these guidelines Monday – Thursday.
