Hope • Hope means having the vision to see things differently from the way they are and becoming involved to help bring about changes. • The theological virtue by which we desire and help to bring about the “kingdom of heaven” on earth and eternal life as our happiness trusting in Jesus’ promises

  4. Hope As a “theological virtue” hope implies an active response in cooperation with God’s graces. It is tied to a certain responsibility and action on our part.

  5. Hope Keeps us from discouragement

  6. Hope Sustains us during time when we feel abandoned

  7. Hope • Opens up our hearts in expectation of eternal beatitude (and all the beatitudes) • Hope keeps us from selfishness and leads us to the happiness that flows from charity • Gives us joy even when we are experiencing difficult trials

Watch carefully, for everything passes quickly, even though our impatience makes doubtful what is certain, and turns a very short time into a long one. Dream that the more you struggle, the more you prove the love that you bear your God, and the more you will rejoice one day with your Beloved, in a happiness and rapture that can never end.
