  1. EFFECT OF Nervous Energy Transfer Therapy ON CHILDLESS COUPLES ON THEIR RELATIONAL ESTEEM AND SUBJECTIVE WELL BEING AND SPERM COUNT Dr. P.M. Jawaharlal

  2. Objectives of the Study • To find out the levels of Relational Esteem of Childless couples before and after Hypno therapy coupled with Nervous Energy Transfer. • To understand the Role of Relational Esteem on the Subjective well being on the couples. • To understand the levels of subjective well being of Childless couples before and after Hypnotherapy coupled with Nervous Energy Transfer.

  3. Need For the Study • Marriage and well being are highly correlated topics in Research. • The infertility among couples are alarmingly increasing. • A survey conducted in the Infertility clinics show that the Subjective well being of the Childless couples is negatively affected. • As the Hypnotherapy is an effective treatment to increase the Subjective well being of the weak individuals, all of the couples to the study have been under gone Experimental Hypnotherapy coupled with Nervous EnergyTransfer. • Hence, the present study aimed to find out the subjective well being of the couples before and after Therapy. • The study also focuses the level of Relational Esteem and their effect on the subjective well being of Childless couples and the comparison of the Sperm count on males before and after therapy

  4. Operational Definitions of the terms used • Subjective well being : In the present study subjective well • Being is operationally defined as the • Total score obtained by the subjects • On the Subjective well being • Inventory (SWBI)[Sell&Nagpal-1992] • Relational Esteem : In the present study Relational Esteem is • Operationally defined as the scores • obtained by the subjects on the • Relational Assessment Questionnaire • (RAQ) [Snell &William-1996] • Childless couples : In the present study Childless couples • Are operationally defined as the • Couples who have no children after • completion of ten years of their marital life.

  5. Research Questions • What are the effects of Infertility on the subjective well being and marital relation on the couples? • Whether the low and high groups on Relational assessment differ from one another on Subjective well being factors? • Whether the Childless couples before and after Hypnotherapy coupled with Nervous energy Transfer differ from each other on subjective well being factors? • What are the effects of Hypnotherapy coupled with Nervous Energy Transfer on the Childless couples? • Whether Nervous Energy Transfer Therapy can be used in future for alleviating Psychological weakness and Nervous weakness?

  6. Hypotheses • Hypothesis No. 1.1.1: There will be significant difference between the high and low Relational Esteem groups on General Well Being Positive Effect factor of the Subjective Well Being Inventory. • Hypothesis No. 1.1.2 : There will be significant difference between the couples before and after Hypnotherapy on General Well Being Positive Effect factor of the Subjective Well Being Inventory. • Hypothesis No. 1.1.3: There will be significant interaction between the levels of Relational Esteem And the Pre therapy and the Post therapy couples on General Well Being Positive Effect factor of the Subjective Well Being Inventory

  7. Instrumentation The following instruments were used in this investigation to obtain Data from the subjects. 1.The Relational Assessment Questionnaire (RAQ) (William & H. Snell ,1996) 2.Subjective Well Being Inventory (SWBI) (H. Snell & Nagpal ,1992) 3. Hypnotherapy coupled with Nervous Energy Transfer

  8. The Relational Assessment Questionnaire (RAQ) • Relational Esteem: relates to the Self Esteem of an Individual in the Family Relation.

  9. Subjective Well Being Inventory (SWBI) • The SWBI used in this study contains 40 items, which has been developed in 1985 and has been modified in 1992 by Nagpal & Sell. The inventory has 11 factors, namely 1. General Well-Being-positive affect 2.Expectation Achievement Congruence 3.Confidence in coping 4.Transcendence 5. Family group support 6.Social support 7.Primary group concern 8.Inadequate Mental Mastery 9.Perceived ill health 10.Deficiency in social contact and 11.General Well Being - Negative affect.

  10. Pilot Study ResultsTable No. 1 showing the Correlation coefficient and Reliability of the Relational Assessment Questionnaire (RAQ)

  11. Table No.2 showing the Correlation coefficient and Reliability of the Subjective well being Inventory (SWBI)

  12. Statistical Technique • The nature of the study is to compare the Subjective Well being and Relational Esteem of the couples before and after the therapies. • This has led to the formation of the couples as well as the High and the Low Relational Esteem groups. • Hence, 2 x 2 analysis of variance statistical techniques has been used to analyse the data.

  13. Formation of Criterion GroupsTableNo. 3 shows the Criterion Group based on the Relational Esteem Subscale

  14. Results Table No. 4 shows 2 x 2 ANOVA for the High and Low Relational Esteem of the couples before and after therapies on their levels of General Well Being Positive Affect

  15. Findings of the Study • The male subjects showed better sperm count Reports after Therapy sessions. • The couples found to have better Subjective well being after therapies . • After therapy sessions, the couples showed greater levels of General well being positive effect, Expectation Achievement congruence, Confidence in coping, Transcendence and Primary group concern. These factors are positive Subjective well being factors. • Relational Esteem facilitates Subjective well being in better manner on the couples before and after therapies

  16. Findings…………………. • After therapy sessions the couples showed lower levels of inadequate mental mastery, Perceived ill health and General well being negative effect factors of the Subjective well being. These four factors are negative factors of Subjective well being. • The Therapy sessions did not make any effect in Deficiency in social contact and Social support factors of the Subjective well being. • The couples after therapies seem to have better Relational Esteem.

  17. Conclusions of this Study • The upshot of the findings shows that the couples’ Subjective well being differ positively after Therapy. • The Relational Esteem facilitates the couples in a better way. • The sperm count showed high improvement in male subjects. • The results of the sperm count and the scores of subjective well being indicate that these results are comparatively higher in degree than the results of Previous studies of Hypnotherapy on Infertility, which is highlighting the significant importance of the Experimental therapy ie; Nervous Energy Transfer Therapy.

  18. Recommendations of this Study • A innovative form of Hypnotherapy is applied in this study by conveying Nervous Energy from the Therapist to the subject through eyes , this therapy may be used as a new healing Therapy in future for healing the Nervous weakness situations like Infertility, Over Relaxation, Anxiety, Confusions, Depressed mental state, Inferiority complex, Stage fears, Sexual weakness etc.. and this Therapy may be termed as “ Nervous Energy Transfer Therapy” • More experiments on this study may be carried out to apply the effect of this Therapy for healing other Psychological and Physical ailments. • Marital relation, especially Relational Esteem enhances happiness among the married couples. Hence, exposure on esteem factors to the married couples will facilitate their marital satisfaction. • Post marital enrichment programmes should be conducted regularly and married couples should be exposed to such type of enrichment programme will tell in reducing differences and enhancing relations among married couples irrespective of the birth of children or not in their relation. • A comparative study of the Ovary functions among the female subjects before and after therapy is also recommended.

  19. Limitations of the Study • The present study is exploratory in nature; the results are only the beginning and cannot be conclusive. • The sample has been identified from Thrissur District only and also the number of sample is very minimal. Hence, the results cannot be generalized. * Thanks *
