  1. The Twelve Sentence Short Story Exposition: (2 sentences) • On a humid, summer day in the hills of Kentucky, Jack and Jill went for a walk together. • After walking for a while, they became thirsty.

  2. The Twelve Sentence Short Story Conflict (2 Sentences) • Jack reached into his backpack and found his canteen was empty. • Realizing they might die without water, they began to search for a well.

  3. The Twelve Sentence Short Story Rising Action (3 Sentences) • They saw a well a the top of a steep hill. • As they climbed the steep hill, they stumbled over some rocks. • When they reached the well, Jill greedily pushed Jack out of the way to get to the cool water first.

  4. The Twelve Sentence Short Story Climax (3 Sentences) • Jack lost his balance when Jill pushed him. • Due to his weakened condition, he fell to the ground and began rolling down the hill. • Jill noticed Jack falling and reached to grab him.

  5. The Twelve Sentence Short Story Falling Action (1 Sentence) • In her attempt to rescue Jack, Jill slipped down too and rolled down after Jack.

  6. The Twelve Sentence Short Story Resolution (1 sentence) 1. At the bottom of the hill, Jack broke his crown and Jill used her cellular phone to call 911.
