Analyzing the Twitter Revolution: Iran's Election Tweets

This report delves into the significant Twitter activity surrounding the 2009 Iranian elections, analyzing 2,024,166 tweets from June 7 to June 26. Conducted by researchers from Open Anthropology and supported by data from various sources, the findings reveal that approximately 480,000 users participated in discussions related to the elections. Key insights include that 59.3% of users tweeted only once and that the top 10% of users contributed to 65.5% of total tweets. The hashtag #iranelection played a crucial role as protests escalated.
