  20. Music Students will attend music classes every other week.   In first grade, students’ listening skills are more refined, as is their ability to be expressive through singing.  Fine motor skills are becoming more developed, and through active learning experiences, their cognitive skills increase. In the music classroom, first-grade students continue to develop skills in speaking, singing, listening, playing instruments, and in creating movement.  The classroom is one of active participation and exploration by students.

  21. School T-shirt Your child will get information about a school T-shirt soon. We will wear these on special days.

  22. Scholastic Book Club Approximately once a month, your teacher may send home an order form to purchase books. We have found this as an inexpensive way to enhance your home library. This is a voluntary program for your convenience. Your child’s classroom earns free books every time you place an order.

  23. Parent Conferences Your teacher will schedule your 1st parent conference after we assess your child’s skills and get to know your child’s individual needs. If you need to reach us before then, you may write a note. We will contact you as soon as possible or you may telephone the school and leave a message. The teacher will return your call after 3:15. We are looking forward to you being an active part in your child’s education. TOGETHER we will develop a plan to help your child have a successful year!
