Defining the “PaxRomana” PaxRomanaliterally translates in Latin to “Roman Peace” Following Augustus Caesar’s rein (the first emperor from last block), the Roman Empire enjoyed approximately 200 years of peace and prosperity (14 to 180 CE/AD) There was expansion and solidification of the Empire. Rome is at its biggest both geographically and in term of its power and domination over the western world. Click Here

All Roads Lead to Rome!(the economic Impact) Click me Trade was enhanced as a uniform system of money was established Safe travel and trade were guaranteed on roads such as the Appian Way and via secured sea lanes Roman roads were built to last Rome promoted prosperity and stability throughout the empire
  5. A return to “normalcy”(The social impact) Click me Rome grows into a city of over one million people (first such city in the Classical world) Stability was returned to the social classes (Patricians and Plebeians back to normal) Augustus Caesar establishes moral reforms with an emphasis on traditional family (the “Macho Guy” is back in charge!) Not so much in Rome
  6. Politics as Usual? Not so much(political effects) Click Here The Senate remains in an advisory role (and is a place of status and wealth) Rome creates an imperial civil service to run day to day government operations (very much like the Persian Empire) Rome continues to develop of a uniform system of laws Thanks Roman Empire!
  7. There’s even some good Emperors! Click Here Trajan (98 to 177 CE/AD) is the Emperor at the height of the Roman Empire Hadrian (117 to 138 CE/AD) Sets forth the northern Roman boundary with a wall across Great Briton Marcus Aralias (161 to 180 CE/AD) is the last of the good guys
  8. But the PaxRomanais not all peaceful(Check out these guys!) Click Here Caligula (37 to 41 CE/AD) was Ok until he got sick. Then he went insane and became cruel, sadistic, extravagant, violent and perverted Nero (64 to 68 CE/AD) was a ruthless emperor who was so nasty that he set fire to the city of Rome (he sang and played his lyre to pass the time) to clear land for his real estate project (talk about urban renewal!)
