Thank You • Your presence here tonight tells me that you are invested in your child’s future  • Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to come here tonight and listen to the information we feel is important for you to know • Thank you for sending ALL the supplies in! • Please hold your questions for the end of the presentation, feel free to write it down on your copy of the powerpoint.   3. Homework • Homework is additional practice for your child to foster student growth and development • All writing homework is identical to the writing done at school. Students should be writing what they think in their journals • Please do not spend more than 20 – 30 minutes a day on homework. • Homework is sent home on Monday and due back on Friday • Formal Homework will begin in October

  4. Homework • Sent home weekly with newsletter • Journals (starting in October) • Writing Journal • Reading Response Journal • Sight Words – cut from homework packet and store in safe place for daily practice

Absences • Please complete an absence form and send it in when your child returns to school from an illness • Vacations must be preapproved (2 weeks in advance) by the principal for any vacations during the school year • If you child is actively ill, please keep him/her home for 24 hours after the last episode to keep from spreading germs

  8. Visitors/Volunteers • Classroom visits must be prearranged with the teacher in advance. For security reasonsthe secretary does not allow adults to roam the building.
