  2. Epidural Hematoma • Bleeding between the dura and the cranial bones • Arterial bleeding • Signs and symptoms develop more quickly • If S/S occur transport IMMIDIATELY

  3. Epidural hematoma • S/S • Severe headache • Dizziness • Vomiting • Increased size of one pupil • Sudden weakness in an arm or leg • Decreased level of consciousness • Changes in breathing

  5. Subdural hematoma • Bleeding below the dura mater between the dura and the brain • Can involve arterial bleeding • Symptoms develop within minutes • Can involve venous bleeding • Symptoms develop over hours or even days

  6. Subdural hematoma • S/S • Confused or slurred speech • Difficulty balancing or walking • Headache • Confusion • Loss of consciousness • Nausea and vomiting • Numbness • Seizures • Visual disturbances • Weakness
