AD – BHN 06 – Spare coil production • No spare coils available for the BHN type magnet (BHW and BHS only). • Delay in ordering as no European country was willing to fabricate the coils. • Order finally placed to BINP, Russia in October 2011, original delivery planned for March 2013 (contract follow-up by P Thonet). • 1st coil has been tested and accepted at BINP, (28/08/2013). • 2nd coil is almost ready for moulding and should be tested by end of September. • Delivery of both coils expected mid October. AD BHN 06 - Conclusion • The BHN 06 magnet has the most severe signs of degradation after ?-years of the coils moving and is the priority magnet to be refurbished. • If a failure is experienced during a run then the downtime will be in terms of months for the majority of users and much longer for ATRAP. • The first spare coil has been tested at BINP, the second is nearly finished and will be tested by the end of September. Delivery is planned for October before the refurbishment starts. • Bake-out is planned for the end of February, the latest date possible for the vacuum team. • Giving the green light to the ATRAP today can gain an extra two weeks margin.
