Chronic Kidney Disease: Public Health Issue with Traditional and Non-Traditional Risk Factors

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a significant public health concern. Early diagnosis and understanding of risk factors—both traditional, like diabetes and hypertension, and non-traditional, such as periodontal disease—are essential for managing CKD. The relationship between periodontal health and CKD is noteworthy, especially in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Regular dental assessments and periodontal therapy may improve overall health outcomes in CKD patients. Research into periodontal effects on CKD is crucial for developing comprehensive treatment strategies.
