  4. Born on December 31, 1908, Buczacs, Ukraine • Father was killed in WW1, mother took her family and fled to Vienna • Graduated in 1928 • Applied to Polytechnic Institute, turned away because of quota restrictions of Jewish Students Quota Restrictions 3

  6. 1942, Nazi Hierarchy decide upon “final solution” (annihilation) • Genocide of Europe, mother was sent to Belzec death camp • 89 members of his family perished “The Final Solution”

  7. Made deal with Polish Underground to save his wife • 1943, escaped Ostabahn before liquidation • Recaptured, would have been killed had German Eastern front not collapsed Captured

  8. 200 guards retreated west • 34/149,000, capture village to fix ratio • Trek to Mauthausen, Austria. • Weighing 100 pounds and barely alive, lying helplessly in barrack with strong stench until Mauthausen was liberated Barely Alive

  9. When health was restored, began gathering and preparing evidence for the U.S Army • Reunited with supposed dead wife, first daughter Pauline • Evidence he supplied was utilized in American Zone war crime trials • Opened Jewish Historical Documentation Center Pauline 6

  10. Center was closed and files were given to Yad Vashem Archives in Israel • All except the Adolf Eichman file The Eichman Dossier 7

  11. Wiesenthal received info that Eichman was in Argentina • Passed info to Israel, but FBI heard he was in Damascus • 1959, “Ricardo Klement” captured in Buenos Aires After Adolf

  12. He was captured there by Israeli agents and brought to Israel for trial. Eichmann was found guilty of mass murder and executed on May 31, 1961. GUILTY 9

  14. In November 1977, the Simon Wiesenthal Center was founded. Today, together with its world renowned Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles and the New York “Tolerancenter”, it is an international center for Holocaust remembrance, the defense of human rights and the Jewish people.   15. On September 20, 2005 Wiesenthal died peacefully in his sleep He was taken to Israel and laid to rest in Herzliya “I did not forget about you” 11
