  2. Tier 2 build up has begun… 56 Xeon in IBM blade center 32 Xeon development cluster 9T NFS mounted disk 1 GigE to campus core 56 AMD double dual added yesterday Managed jointly with SCV group, Center for Computational Science at BU T2 prototype very expert group

  3. MIT Lincoln labs Abilene NYC Tufts OC48 OC48 Harvard OC48 MIT NoX metro ring 144 fibers 1 km Boston University OC48 OC48 OC48 Northeastern U.Mass Brown + rest of New England

  4. What I’m taking back to Boston… 1. No specific plans for dedicated peer to peer networks for T1<->T2. Internet2 backbone in the process of OC48->10Gig. Some sort of relationship with NLR, HOPI anticipated. 2.We’ll need to have a coherent Tier0/1/2 infrastructure for storing networking performance data, monitoring and continuous testing. Joe Metzger will tell us what to do. 3. We can anticipate some sort of management QoS infrastructure particularly for high priority activities. Ultralight, TeraPath, + ? 4. We also need to have some sort of Tier 1/2 coherence in security infrastructure. 5. Joint planning with MIT CMS re WAN & Ultralight collab.might be a good idea.
