  2. Early Life • Tiberius fought against Octavian Caesar in the Civil war, once Octavian won he was banished to Greece for his treachery. • He came back two years later only to marry Octavian’s daughter and become an adoptive son, and heir to the throne.

  3. Interesting events • Around 26 BC Tiberius left Rome in order to move his capital city to Capri, in order to get away from all of the plotting and deceit. • Tiberius lead Rome in a laissez-faire type government where he would intervene when necessary

  4. Military Experiences • Before his election to emperor He campaigned against the Parthians; regaining the legionary standards lost by Crassus 33 years ago. • Under his leadership he also lead a military campaign to the Pannonian legions and pacify the germanic armies around the Rhine.

  5. Marriage/Children • His first marriage was to Vipsania Agrippina who he divorced in 2BC in order to marry Julia daughter of Augustus • He had Two children Drusus, who became a prominent military commander, and Nero Claudius, who became a Roman Consult. • However the Heir to the throne went to Gaius Caligula his adoptive son and grand-nephew
