  3. Read 180/Houghton Mifflin • Students are grouped, depending on their Star Test, SRI and Teacher Recommendation. • Visit rm. 6(Mrs. Schimidt) or rm. 16 (Mrs. Murga) for Read 180. The other fourth grade rooms for Houghton Mifflin. RSP is in rm 14. • (Ask your child)

  6. Accelerated Reader • Students read and take test at their individual reading level. Their points earned and percent is added to their Language Arts grade.

  7. Mathematics Quick Checks (Quizzes) --After every 6 or 7th lessons. Chapter Tests --After every chapter (about every 3 weeks) Excel Test Must study know multiplications to 12

  8. Social Studies/Science • California History • Missions Project • Life Sciene, Rocks and Minerals, Electricity and Magnets • Science Standards: Tested in 5th grade

  9. Grading/ Standards • Standards • Progress Reports (every 6 weeks) • Print Outs • Report Cards • At the end of the trimester

  10. Homework • Checked for completion and understanding; not graded, but must be completed. • Daily: Turned in everyday. • Not turned in=recess detention • 2 missing assignments= 1 day after school detention

  11. Homework • Language Arts: Homework will depend on the teacher. • Students are responsible to complete and turn in all paperwork. • Math Homework: Daily (Must be turned in the next day!!!) Social Studies/Science: Check agenda

  12. Computer resourcesMay be recorded on the reading log 20 min. daily. • Study Island • Ticket to Read • Accelerated Reading • CST (May 5-9 2014) www.cde.ca.gov

  13. Parent Conference • November 7th and 8th: Only for at Risk Students • As needed: Let me know or I will contact you if I have concerns.

  14. Attendance • Return absence notes/doctor’s notes on the day of your child’s return • Try to schedule appointments before/after school • Better to be late/or check out early than to not come at all. • Perfect Attendance Policy: -no absences or tardies • 3 days to clear absences

  15. Water/Snacks • Lunch is 1:00. Nutritional snacks are okay to eat during recess(@11:40). • Water Bottles are okay to have in class. No juices, punch, soda, Gatorade, etc. They can stain the carpets, and bring ants.
