  1. WebQuest Lesson

  2. Bell Ringer • Think of and write down as many examples as you can of what you think basic movements skills are. • You will be given a couple of minutes to think, and after that you will need to share your answers with a classmate.

  3. Body Management Skills • Body management skills involve balancing the body in stillness and in motion. • These skills usually require large muscle activities for controlling the body in various situations. • Body management skills integrate agility, coordination strength, balance, and flexibility.

  4. Rolling • To move forward along a surface by revolving on an axis or by repeatedly turning over. • Rolling involves the use of your entire body

  5. Stopping • To cease moving, progressing, acting, or operating; come to a halt. • When you stop, you quit moving from one place to the other, and become stationary.

  6. Bending • To cause something to assume a curved or an angular shape. • You can bend several different parts of your body. Your trunk, knee, elbows etc. • Bending is used a lot in stretching.

  7. Twisting • A complete rotation of the body around its vertical axis. • When you twist, you are rotating your body, or turning your body, in order to move on an axis.

  8. Landing • Landing involves striking the surface and coming to rest on that particular surface. • When you are jumping, the end result of that jump is called landing.

  9. Stretching • Stretching is to hold out, reach forth, or extend. • Stretching requires lots of different movements together. • Stretching helps your muscles be loose and ready for activity.

  10. Climbing • Climbing involves going up, or ascending on an object. • When you climb, you are using your arms and your legs in order to advance upward. • An example of this would be climbing a ladder.

  11. Static Balance • Static balance consists of remaining balance while you are standing still. • An example of this would be remaining balanced while you are stretching.

  12. Dynamic Balance • Dynamic balance consists of staying balanced while you are on the move. • An example of this would be someone walking on a tight rope or balance beam and not falling.

  13. Turning • Turning is the act of reversing your position. • When you turn, you are moving towards one particular space, then turning your body in order to change paths and move do a different space.

  14. Nice Job!! • Now you have learned about all of these body management skills and can now practice them on your own!
