  3. Mission M. S. Ryan Elementary School is committed to developing and educating all its students by providing a relevant and challenging curriculum through innovative programs and effective use of resources in a safe and nurturing environment.

  4. Facts About Ryan Nestled amidst the rolling hills in the heart of what is known as the Heights Area, or “Las Lomas” (the hills), sits M.S. Ryan Elementary School. Surrounded by its majestic live oaks, well-manicured lawns, and colorful landscaping, this neighborhood school is well known by the community as the ideal place for casual strolls, energizing jogs, and other outdoor activities. M. S. Ryan Elementary School is one of twenty-one elementary campuses of Laredo Independent School District. The school is located at 2401 Clark Blvd. in Laredo, Texas. Our school is part of a unique community that reflects two cultures due to its proximity to the Mexican border. Successful student achievement continues to be the goal of staff, students, and parents at M. S. Ryan Elementary School. Our success can be attributed to our fostering of the learning process. In doing so, we are able to provide our students with an environment that is caring, supportive, consistent and conducive to learning.

  5. History The school bears the name of a prominent former member of the Laredo ISD School Board of Trustees. Michael S. Ryan also served his community as an elected county official. The school was built in the early 1950’s, using the most advanced architectural designs of the time. At present, plans are underway for the construction of a brand new school at the site of the existing one. Soon we will have a state-of-the-art building equipped with a gymnasium, cafeteria/auditorium, science lab, art room, music room, Learning Media Center and computer labs.

  7. Beliefs At M. S. Ryan Elementary School we believe that our school provides our students with the basic skills that are necessary in order to function productively and happily in our American society. Accordingly, to ensure a well-rounded education, we believe that our students should be exposed to duties and responsibilities so that they may appreciate the privileges and understand the consequences that go hand-in-hand with our democratic way of life. The individual needs of our students are unique and must be considered essential to the total learning process, so as to provide an enriched, appropriate and balanced educational experience. Furthermore, home and school work harmoniously as partners in reinforcing the total democratic educational process that meets the needs of our community. In order for every student to have an equal opportunity to a quality education, we ensure that the educational process at our campus incorporates various teaching methods, innovative ideas and the latest educational trends so that our students may be able to function in real-life situations.

  8. TRADITIONS A long-standing tradition at M. S. Ryan has been to cultivate a warm, inviting environment that extends to students, parents, and the community as well. This is evident as one walks around the campus where friendliness prevails. A sense of belonging embraces you and remains with you long after you have left M. S. Ryan. Familiar faces of former staff members, students and parents are a common sight at our campus.

  9. TRADITIONS We take pride in developing the whole child. We foster self-esteem, self-confidence, and positive outlook in our students by providing a nurturing climate, challenging academic programs, and opportunities for students to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities and cultural events. All this is possible because of our dedicated staff, a strong parental involvement program and the support of the community.
