  2. Project Objectives • To interpret artifacts and primary sources • To organize events into historical sequence • To analyze events from more than one perspective • To construct and present a representation of data

  3. What is National History Day? • Think “Science Fair” for History. It’s much more than that. Let’s explore together: http://www.nhd.org • The competition happens at four levels: school, district, state, and national. • Students create projects around a yearly theme. They choose their own topics. They then create exhibits, websites, documentaries, performances, or research papers.

Creating an Entry • To learn more about the project options and building an entry for this contest, explore here: http://nhd.org/CreatingEntry.htm • You are free to choose any project option you would like and you may choose to work in groups– up to four people. • You may work with students in my other classes as well (who are participating in NHD).

Topic Ideas for 2014 • Here you can find topic ideas as a way to get started: http://www.mdhc.org/files/resources/2014_sample_topics.pdf • You may also choose a topic of your own based on your personal historical interests. • Ideally, you can use a historical topic that surfaced during your Family History Project for National History Day.
