  4. ACCESSING SOURCES • Subscription Databases (Destiny Home Page) ELibrary, Infotrac, and Proquest History, and Culturegrams • Destiny online catalog for BHS • Library of Congress • Public Library • Area college libraries

  5. Public Library • Access the public library’s collection @ ocln.org • Enter your library card number and password. Password is ocln if you are new. • Reserve books • Use the databases

  6. Destiny online Catalog • To find more print materials • Search for Documents, Speeches, People/Events • Check the subject headings • Use true synonyms, other similar words • Think of a more general subject

  10. Authority • Is there an author? • What are his or her qualifications? • Who is the sponsor? • What is the sponsor's area of expertise? • Should I trust this information?

Accuracy • Who is responsible for this information? • Does the author (person or organization) • have an affiliation or mission that would • influence the information? • Is there a reason to distort the information? • Does it seem as if the authors of the • information are trying to persuade the user • to believe as they believe?

  12. Currency • Does up to date information make a difference • to my project/research? • How up to date is this information? • How recent are the facts and figures? • Where can I look to find the date the information • was produced in my source?

  13. Works Cited • For every website/ book/ other materials source • In MLA format • 1-3 line description of what you used from the book/ site/ interview and why/ how you used it • 50 sources, separated by source type
