  2. Bodily – Kinesthetic Core Components: Abilities to control one’s body movements and to handle objects skillfully. 1. People that have Bodily Kinesthetic Intelligence learn better by involving muscular movement. 2. They learn better by getting up and moving around while they are learning the activity. 3. They use muscle memory, they remember things thru their bodies. Careers that are suited for Bodily Intelligence: Dancers, Surgeons Athletes, Doctors Actors, Builders and Soldiers Characteristics Good Dancer, and good Athletes, generally good at building and making things.

  3. Interpersonal This area has to do with interaction with others. People with high interpersonal skills are: 1. extraverts 2. works effectively with others 3. adapts their behavior to different environments or groups 4. Understands others, is sensitive to their feelings. Careers Politician, religious leader, teacher, therapist, counselor, Salesman. Good at group activities, and group discussions, easily influences peers!

Verbal – Linguistic These types of learners are good with words; written and spoken • Learn through listening , reading, writing and discussing. • Enjoy word games • Good at learning other languages • Good at taking notes, and telling stories. • Good at debating Careers: Poet, teacher, journalists, editor Activities for Verbal learners: 1. Keep logs, and daily journals 2. Write sequels to story they read in class.

Logical-Mathematical Logic, abstractions, reasoning and numbers are the strong attributes to this type of learner. • Logical thinkers, higher reasoning capabilities. • Places emphasis on scientific thinking and investigation • Has the ability to perform complex calculations. Can recognize and solve problems. Careers: Scientists, Accountants, Engineers, Computer Programmers

Naturalistic Nature, Nurturing and relating information to a persons natural surroundings This was not one of Gardner’s original theories of MI, it was added in 1997. • Naturalists learn best when the subject can collect and analyze data that is closely related to nature. • Great sensitivity to nature and their place within it. • The ability to grow and nurture things. • Interacts with animals • Can discern changes in weather. • Must connect a new experience with prior knowledge in order to learn new things. Careers: Farmers, gardeners, scientists

Intrapersonal Hum……… Introspective and self reflective capacities. • Highly self aware and capable of understanding their own emotions, goals and motivations. • High level of perfectionism • Likes to spend time reflecting and learning about themselves. • Like to work alone. • Introverted. • Goals are important. Careers: Psychologist, Theologian Philosopher, Writer Activities for kids: Write poetry, write in a journal, make charts to show goals.

  8. Visual - Spatial People with this intelligence are very good at visualizing and mentally manipulating objects. • Very good at puzzles • Artistically inclined • Very good at hand eye coordination • Good sense of direction • Strong visual memory Careers: Artists, engineers, and architects.

  9. Musical Intelligence Referred to as Music Smart or sounds smart, it incorporates rhythm, beats, sound and tones. The “music” can come from different things: voices, music, beats, sounds. Enjoys opportunities to hear music or sounds Listens and responds to different sounds: human voice, music, environmental sounds Ability to sing or play an instrument Uses vocabulary and notations of music Recognizes different musical styles and genres. “We often feel music with our bodies and we move accordingly.” Musical Curriculum Plays musical instruments Echo rhythms and melodies Learns dance Play background music during activities
