  3. Homeless • There are Over 18,000 Homeless People in Metro Detroit • Of those 18,000, 30% are chronically homeless and 25% are children. Nearly half of the homeless population in Detroit are families. • Homeless get some of their food from soup kitchenssome people line up to get a bed in a shelter, but have to leave the next morning.

Native American • 39% of Native Americans are illegal • Some live on reservations • Most continue to celebrate traditional native culture • There are around 48,000 Native Americans in Detroit • There are about 395,000 Native Americans in Michigan • Native Americans bring along with them there culture such as foods and traditions

Latin American • Usually live in poverty • Some live in Mexican communities • Some are illegal immigrants who crossed the border illegally • Those who immigrated legally work and live in our community • Bring over their cultures to the U.S • sometimes come to start a new life • many central americans open traditional restaurants and bakery.
