Essential Maintenance Guide for Qi Cluster Systems
This module outlines critical maintenance tasks for Qi Cluster systems, emphasizing file management and system restoration. Key objectives include identifying must-backup files and understanding how to restore systems effectively. Users will learn routine maintenance activities such as calibrating the scale, managing DMT files, and maintaining battery health. The importance of using FTP utilities for file management is highlighted, along with cautionary notes regarding system operations during file transfers. Ensuring firmware uniformity across devices and addressing performance parameters are also discussed for optimal system functionality.

MUST HAVE SHOULD HAVE COULD HAVE Module # 130
Maintaining a Qi Cluster • Objectives • Know which files must be backed up • Know how to restore a system from scratch • Know what other routine tasks need to be done
Maintenance list A • Do : • Calibrate the scale regularly • Make copies of the *.DMT files after calibration or editing • Replace battery every 3 yrs • Use an FTP utility to copy files out of the Qi • IE, FreeFTP or other • NOTE: copy only one file at a time • WARNING! Process must not be running !! • Class Exercise using a FTP util • Copy all files • Optional exercise – time permitting • Master Reset the QiMPACT • Hint: IP address and Subnet mask must be set first • Copy all DMT files back into QiMPACT • Cycle power
Maintenance list B • The battery supplies power at all configuration data except: • Scale calibration data which stays with the board • The battery is situated inside the Power supply module • A capacitor will maintain power to the RAM for a few minutes allowing you to change the battery without losing the data • Ensure that all QiMPACT have the same version of firmware • (Web Pages): Maintenace > System Information • Recommend that all QiMPACT have cooling fans installed • Some earlier models shipped without • The analogue scale board must be the DMA version. • ControlNet EDS file versions • Ver 1.1 for QiMPACT only • Ver 1.2 for JagXterme only • Ver 1.3 for QiMPACT and jagXtreme • Profibus GSD file: • Qi.gsd
Configuration Data backup and restore • PAC and general configuration are all stored in *.DMT files • These files can be copied out of and into the QiMPACT using FTP utility’s • Two important ones are: • JAGXAPC.DMT (All PAC configuration ) • JAGXCAL.DMT (All hardware calibration setup) • Should be done after any calibrations or significant editing of the Database • WARNING: • The operation can affect the QiMPACT. Do not attempt while the process is active or running! • Only copy ONE file at a time • A failed or spare QiMPACT can be restored by simply copying all *.DMT files back into the QiMPACT. • NOTE: channels will have to be licensed again if a different processor board is installed. If not SPILL ONLY algorithms will be used
Other maintenance functions • Review the process parameters ie system performance • Average Spill and Flows.. Are they centralized within the limit • A change can mean something is wrong • A partially blocked pipe • Review the MaterialTransferProcess screen, are there any warnings (orange, red or yellows. • TIP: the Spill and Flow 50%, 75% and 100% limit status’s should all be green, they are not visible when OFF and this is a Warning or Error condition • Review Qi365 data. Look for step changes and error conditions
Review Questions • Which version of Cnet EDS files will work with the QiMPACT? • How and what must we backup in case of a system crash or failure? • Can we do the above while the Qi is controlling a process
