Role of the OSD Academic Role: Responsibility to uphold the standards of the curriculum, technical competencies, & institutional integrity Service Role: Responsibility to treat others with dignity, while maintaining other roles simultaneously Legal Role: Responsibility to ensure students with documented disabilities have equal access to UC San Diego’s programs and activities in a consistent and timely manner

Student & Dependent Accommodations Exam Accommodations Classroom Accommodations Students eligible for access to specialized software/hardware All other exam accommodations – OSD Academic Liaisons • A collaborative approach for eligible accommodations, working with faculty, Teaching Assistants, and the students with disabilities. For example: • Note-taking (ASL Notes or Peer Notes) • Alternative formats • Reading assignments in advance • Completing in-class assignments after class • Use of special furniture • Tape record lectures • Sign language interpreters • Captioned video or other electronic information

  7. Assistance with experiments • Additional time to complete a lab • Specialized furniture Lab Accommodations

  10. Program Modifications • Reduction in required course load – but treated as • a full-time student • Extensions to complete programs • Housing • Scholarships • Athletics • Leave of absence • Priority Registration • Course Substitution • Medical Withdrawal
