  2. M 64, right arm 1. Cyst is located just below the epidermis. 2. Contains red compact pilar-type keratin.

  3. 1. Cyst is located just below the epidermis. 2. Contains red compact pilar-type keratin.

  4. Cyst wall is lined partly by pale large trichilemmal type epithelial cells

  5. Cyst wall is lined partly by epidermal cells with granular layer.

  6. Comment • 1. Cyst is located just below the epidermis (Fig 1, 2) • 2. It arises from the infundibulum of the hair. • 3. Contains red compact pilar-type keratin.(Fig 1, 2) • 4. Cyst wall is lined by partly pale large trichilemmal type epithelial cells (Fig 3) and partly by epidermal cells with granular layer.(Fig 4). • COMPARE WITH EPIDERMAL CYST ( LINED BY EPIDERMAL CELLS WITH GRANULAR LAYER, CYST CONTAINING FLAKEY BASKET-WEAVE TYPE KERATIN) AND PILAR CYST ( LINED BY TRICHILEMMAL EPITHELIUM WITHOUT GRANULAR LAYER, CYST CONTAINING COMPACT PILAR TYPE KERATIN).
