  2. With that in mind here is a guide to all the questions most commonly asked about MMA. 1)What is Mixed Martial Art? Mixed Martial Art is the fastest growing sport in the world. It is a full-contact combat sport that allows both striking and grappling, both standing and on the ground, using techniques from various martial arts and Olympic sports, such as Boxing, Kick-Boxing, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Wrestling, and Judo. There are typically 3 rounds in a contest, each of 5 minutes in length. 2)Is Mixed Martial Arts a Sport or UFC? Mixed Martial Art is the name of the sport and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the name of the premier organization. Just like Akin to basketball being the sport, but the NBA being the name of the organization. The UFC has been the driving force behind the sport’s popularity and has done a great job of marketing the brand. However, you all must have heard people tell their friends that they train UFC, so next time you hear that, politely correct them. 3)Are there rules in MMA? A common false impression is that MMA has no rules, when in fact, it has many. The Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts is the most common rule set used throughout the world. All state athletic commissions and training schools in India adopt the Unified Rules to help regulate the sport. The rules are thorough and include the size of the fighting area, specifications about hand wrapping and information on judging and fouls. 4)How is the Fight Scored? There are three judges, each with a different viewpoint of the contest. They evaluate MMA techniques, such as effective grappling, effective striking, control of the fighting area, effective aggressiveness and defense of the mixed martial artists. 10-Point Must System is used, the winner of the round gets 10 points, the loser gets 9 or less, unless, in rare occurrences, it’s an even 10-10 round. 5)Are MMA fighters Highly Skilled Sportsperson? MMA fighters are some of the most well trained and skilled athletes in the sports. It takes years of dedication and hard training to successfully earn a black belt in martial arts. Many MMA fighters have university degrees, as a direct result of their wrestling scholarships. SOURCE: http://mmagymchd.com/blog/mixed-martial-arts-things-really-need-know/

A fight can finish in a number of different ways, such as submission, technical knockout, knockout, judge’s decision, forfeit, technical draw or decision and no contest. There is an entertainment aspect to the sport, but at the end of many bouts, the fighters will shake hands and embrace. They respect their opponent and the sport.
