  1. 1/6/11 Adv. Alg. Bell Ringer Grab today’s materials from up front. Get out your homework (I’ll be around to check it); IF IT’S NOT OUT AND YOU’RE NOT ON YOUR BELL RINGER WHEN I WALK BY YOU WILL NOT GET CREDIT. Convert the following to log functions (solve if possible) 27 = 3(10)x 110 = X13 x = 24 Homework: Finish 1/6 Indep. Pract. STUDY FOR QUIZ

  2. Bell Ringer Answers

  3. 1/6 News and Notes • Test Takers: TODAY AFTER SCHOOL IN ROOM 218! • QUIZ TOMORROW • Perfection Award: 1st and 2nd Period!

  4. 1/6 Agenda • I CAN convert log functions to exponential functions and solve. • Bell Ringer • New Material – 2 Examples • Guided Practice – Start to Finish • Independent Practice • ACT Question of the Day

  5. Example 1: Rewrite a Logarithmic as Exponential log10(100) = 2 • What type of function is this? • Logarithmic! • Circle the base, box the exponent and triangle the argument • Write the exponential function: • Why does this help us? • ISOLATING THE ARGUMENT! 102 = 100

  6. Now use this knowledge to solve for x: • log3(X) = 4 • 34 = X • 81 = x • logx(64) = 2 • X2 = 64 • X * X = 64 • 8*8 = 64 • 8 = x

  7. Guided Practice – Start to Finish • You will work with a partner. Before you can move on to the Independent Practice you must have this completed and checked! • Start to Finish Instructions: • Work with your partner (2nd Period: Person next to you) • Top of card = Answer, Bottom of card = Question • Connect each question to its answer, from start to finish. • When you finish raise your hand for further instructions.

  8. Independent Practice • You now have the rest of class to work on the independent practice. • QUIZ TOMORROW!!!!!
