Professional Teaching Certificate • Five year renewal period = 120 points • Inservice hours • 1 point per 1 hour of seat time • College coursework • 2 three hour courses = 120 points • Certification test • 60 points per test • Call the Human Resources office before registering for any course or applying for a certification test

  10. Temporary Certificate • Valid for three/four school years • Nonrenewable • Provides time to complete all requirements for a Professional Certificate while teaching full-time • No inservice points accrue except: • ESOL • Reading Endorsement • (Valid only first recertification time- 5 years)

  11. ESOL and Reading Endorsement • Teachers with temporary certificates can only carry points forward into their first certification period and must use the points in their first time certifying. • Teachers with professional certificates may bank indefinitely.

  12. Inservice Points Transfer Employment change within Florida districts • Contact the Inservice Office to initiate process, or • Write a letter of request to the Inservice Office, or • Have appropriate personnel in new district write or call the Inservice Office to initiate the process.

  18. General PoliciesTelecommunication Policy • Don’t mix personal with business • Contact with students using electronic devices should always be ethical • When using any media for school business, be professional

Social Media and Social Networking • Please be aware of the policy concerning Social Media in the AURP. • Keep in mind applicable School Board Policy 6.83 Personal Business on School Time • No employee of the School Board may conduct personal business on school board time except for emergencies approved by the principal or Superintendent. • School Board equipment and supplies shall not be used to conduct personal business or other activity not connected with the school system.

EmailRetention and Archiving • All school business related email is public record • You are required by law to archive email and any electronic communication related to school business for a minimum of 3 years • Outlook at work/Webmail at home • Archiving guide on district Documents and Forms webpage

Student Acceptable Use Policy • Computer and internet use should be supervised. • The AUP is required for all students. • Minors must not sign the AUP. • Student AUP status information must be available to all staff (schools document student AUP status in various ways). • No Student AUP required for • Teacher demonstration • Internet-based educational software (e.g., Disc. Ed.)
