Where is Colombia located? • Colombia is located in the northwestern region of South America bordering to the east with Venezuela and Brazil; to the south with Ecuador and Peru; to the North with the Atlantic Ocean, through the Caribbean Sea; and to the west with Panama and the Pacific Ocean. Colombia is the 26th largest nation in the world and the fourth-largest country in South America after Brazil, Argentina, and Peru.
The Main Religion Of Colombia. • Catholicism was the official religion of the country since the Spanish colonization until the 1991 constitutional reform (National Constituent Assembly), which granted equalitarian treatment from the government to all the religions. However, Catholicism is still the main religion in Colombia by number of adepts, with an estimated of 75% of the national population in nominal Catholicism, from which about 25% are practicing Catholics.
The main ethnic groups of colombia. • Some of the main ethnic groups in Colombia is the mestizo (mixed white and Amerindian), constituting about 58% of the total population in the 1998. An estimated 20% of the inhabitants are of unmixed white ancestry; 14% are mulatto (black–white); 4% are black; 3% are zambo (black–Indian); and 1% are pure Amerindian. Blacks and mulattoes are concentrated in the coastal regions and tropical valleys. Pure Amerindians are rapidly disappearing; the remaining few live mainly in inaccessible and barren regions.

Sign languages use in the country are Colombian numerals, Colombian Sign Language and Providence Island Sign Language.
Clothing in Colombia • The traditional clothing is a puffy white shirt with black pants for boys and a white blouse with a black skirt for girls for girls. Colombians use red to accent and bring some color into clothing. Some times the girls wear all red skirts instead of black skirts with red accents.
Colombia political system • Like the American system of government, Colombia's political structure is divided into executive, judicial, and legislative branches of government, with the latter, like the American system divided into a Senate and a House of Representatives. Senators are elected via a national ballot, while representatives are elected by their local constituents. Congress convenes twice annually, and the president can summon a special session when necessary. However, unlike the American system, the Colombian president is chosen directly by the electorate, without the intervention of an electoral college. He then serves as both head of state and head of government, overseeing a multi-party representative democracy.

Vaccination against violence and ill-treatment of children Violence in Colombia (South America) is a serious social problem, as over a period of years, thousands of people, including children, have been victims of aggression in all its forms. However something can be done to break the cycles of violence through various actions. The aim of the project outlined here, elaborated by Manizales-Caldas in Colombia, is one of PROMOTION AND PREVENTION by means of reflection but also interactive methods geared to developing a sense of recognition and reconciliation between individuals, based on non-violent resolution of conflicts to save children - the most vulnerable beings socially speaking - from aggression.
Part Two • Violence is the cause of a good many public health problems in Colombia. Each day there are 70 violent murders, 10 political assassinations as well as 10 child deaths through ill-treatment and sexual abuse. Furthermore, 7000 children are involved in fighting organizations. It is also clear that the violence gripping our country today is repeated through the generations in the form of unbroken cycles as many of the adults who ill-treat their children were themselves ill-treated during their childhood.
The Main Ethnic Groups Of Colombia. • 58% of the population is mestizo, or of mixed European and Amerindian ancestry, while 20% is of European ancestry. Another 14% is mulatto, or of mixed black African and European ancestry, while 4% is of black African ancestry and 3% are zambos, of mixed black African and Amerindian ancestry. What types of jobs does Colombia have? • climatologists, meteorologists, and cartography • The Colombian higher education system is composed by Technical Institutes focused in vocational education, University Institutions focused in technological education, and Universities focused in undergraduate and postgraduate education. The country counts with public and private universities. Most of the Public universities conform the State University System (Spanish: Sistema Universitario Estatal, SUE) and most of the departments have at least one public university. Several private universities are affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church or are Nonsectarian.
How Colombia Helps Latin America • Colombia is the only country in South America with coasts on the Pacific and Caribbean. It's a spectacularly beautiful country, with the Andes, beaches, colonial cities and archaeological treasures to delight the business or leisure traveler.
Part two • Colombia is characterized by containing five main natural regions that present their own unique characteristics, from the Andes mountain range region shared with Ecuador and Venezuela; the Pacific Ocean coastal region shared with Panama and Ecuador; the Caribbean Sea coastal region shared with Venezuela and Panama; the Llanos (plains) shared with Venezuela; to the Amazon Rainforest region shared with Venezuela, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. Interesting things about Colombia • Colombia has a democratic government, has a lot of industry including car assembly lines, mining, textiles, many foreign companies are headquartered in Bogota.There are excellent schools and universities. There are about 40 plus shopping centers in Bogota, excellent theater, movie making and novella making.the country roads are (the main roads) are up to par. They have oil, and some of the best emeralds in the world.Colombia has not one or two but many modern cities.
How Colombia has developed. • Road travel is the main means of transport; almost 70 percent of cargo is transported by road, as compared with 27 percent by railroad, 3 percent by internal waterways, and 1 percent by air. Nevertheless, Colombia has one of the lowest ratios of paved roads per inhabitant in Latin America. The country has well-developed air and waterway routes. The only means of transportation in 60 percent of the country is via waterways, but guerrilla groups control the waterways in the south and southeast.
Are the U.S and Colombia friends or foes? • Colombia's recently elected President, Juan Manuel Santos, has yet again proven that he puts regional political pressure above his commitment to Colombia's most important ally – the United States. This morning, in delivering the report for his first 100 days in office, Santos announced that he would seek extradition for Walid Makled, Venezuela's most significant drug kingpin, captured on August 18th in Colombia and wanted by the United States for drug trafficking, back to Venezuela. In his speech, he stated, “when we captured [Makled], we received the extradition request from Venezuela well before the United States. The extradition request from Venezuela is not only for drug trafficking but for other crimes.” Makled is also wanted in Venezuela for the alleged murder of journalist Orel Sambrano. clandestine airfields and flown cargo planes full of drugs around the world - including into West Africa, a route only just now being uncovered.
