ACHIEVEMENTS • Trained total of 930 employees: (Peer educators & coordinators. (Basic knowledge & Refresher courses. -In partnership with TGPSH conducted trainings to 4 Ministries (ppp) - Education, Justice, Health, Water, Energy&Minerals. - Trained Public Service Commission Institute (Magogoni) -14 instructors trained in TOT. Now are doing the rest of Ministries as way of sustainability. ABCT
ACHIEVEMENTS • Developed own training manuals: -Coordinators manual -Peer education handbook - Story telling, 10 Minute talk. -Tool kit - Generic work place policy ABCT
ACHIEVEMENTS • Developed Strategic Partnerships: - TCCIA (Chamber of Commerce)- Growing membership into regions through Chamber net work now in3 regions Will add 3 more to make 6 regions. -Tea Project with support from GTZ 4 member companies supported to extend HIVand AIDS into surrounding communities-reaching 180,000 people. (PPP) • Champion Project Partnership.-Engender Health • -Membership to PABC(Panafrican Business coalition TZ Chair. ABCT
ACHIEVEMENTS • Membership growth increased from 54 in 2006-68 in 2008 • TNCM Member • Recognized by TACAIDS- ABCT being the main Business partner ABCT
CHALLENGES • Perceived fear of cost by companies. • SME still not well recognized • Difficulties in recruiting new members • Difficulties in CEOs participation ABCT
LESSONS LEARNT • Peer education system is a powerful component in comprehensive WPP • Behavior change is a very slow process, hence short term plans are crucial • HIV/AIDS Multisectoral approach has a big impact in the fight against HIV/AIDS ABCT
LESSONS LEARNT • Regular promotion/sensitization focusing on promoting VCT is an entry point to behavior change, stigma reduction • Being all inclusive Coalition (Unions & employer associations) helps mobilize companies better.- no negotiation on HIV and AIDS. ABCT
RECOMMENDATIONS • To strengthen Multisectoral approach (PPP) • To create sense of programs ownership to beneficiaries by involving them fully from planning to implementation and M&E ABCT
