  12. eMINTS i3 Project Overview Goal: Validate effectiveness of eMINTS PD programs on achievement of rural Missouri middle school students through a random control trial. Project objectives and outcomes: Increase students’ mathematics and English Language Arts performance and 21st century skills by their exposure to eMINTS teaching styles and technology Understand eMINTS PD impacts on teachers’ practice 10

  13. eMINTS i3 Project Overview Implementation Treatment Groups Group 1 – eMINTS Comp PD 2011-2013 Group 2 – eMINTS Comp PD plus Intel Project-based Approaches 2011-2013 plus 2013-2014 Group 3 – Control group 2014-2016 plus 2016-2017 (optional 3rd year with online Intel course) 11

  15. eMINTS Comprehensive Professional Development Purpose:Assist teachers in developing student-centered classrooms, enhanced by the infusion of technology. • 93 Teachers Total • Two-year Program • 200+ hours of PD & coaching • Optional 3rd year of Intel PD • 28-hour online course 13

  16. Annual Conference Purpose: Share best teaching strategies and highlight personal learning and student successes. • Comp PD requirement - Year 1 • Open to other district staff • Create unity and opportunity to professionally build learning networks 14

  17. Annual face-to-face meetings On-site walkthrough visits Webinars / virtual meetings Onsite support Online community School Administrators Purpose: Professional development and support for district leaders. 15

  18. Technology Coordinators Purpose: Collaborate with technology coordinators and other technical staff in support of successful project implementation. • Webinars / virtual meetings • Individual consultation and online support • Email/phone support 16

  19. Custom Workshops / eLearning Purpose: Support teachers who are integrating technology or new teaching practices • Google Apps for Education (GAFE) • iPads • Online courses • Network for Educator Effectiveness (NEE) • Computational thinking • 1:1 planning 17

Participant Roles & Responsibilities Next Steps: • Teacher laptops and SMART Boards – ordered and installed by August • Teachers meet with eIS to schedule first session • Teachers – begin Comp PD (Aug.) • Student equipment ordered in September • Administrators – fall face-to-face meeting (Sept.) and walkthrough visits (Oct.-Nov.) • Tech coordinators – fall webinar (TBD) 20
