  3. Setting • In Island of the Blue Dolphins it took place in San Nicolas.Coral Cove is were Karana lives.Coral Cove is rocky and has a lot of fish in the cool water.

  4. Main Character • Karana is the main character in Island of the Blue Dolphins.Karana’s talent is surviving on the island alone.She’s very brave because she’s able to find food and stay alive on the island.

  5. Theme • In Island of the Blue Dolphins the theme is Karana trying to survive alone on the island of San Nicolas.

  6. Plot • In the beginning of Island of the Blue Dolphins Karana lived with her family in her village.Next,she was left behind by her tribe because she tried to find her brother.After that,her brother was killed by a pack of wolves. Ever since then she was determined to kill the leader.Finally,instead of killing the leader she became friends with him and named him Rontu.

  7. Problem/Solution • In chapter one the Aleuts came for otter skin.The Ghalas-at tribe refused to give them the otters because the Aleuts wouldn’t give them anything in return.So when the Aleuts left the island the Ghalas-at tribe decided to leave Coral Cove.

  8. Opinion/Connection/Recommendation • My opinion about Island of the Blue Dolphins is positive.I think this book was written by a good author because of his good description.The way he wrote the book makes me relate to Karana like I was right there throughout her amazing events.
