  3. President’s Report • DCA needs some major repairs – mainly outside • Could use some fine tuning with the round up of volunteers • Locks changes have caused some confusion. It will get sorted • The ball diamonds infields were refurbished in the spring of 2014. Sand was added to loosen up the stone dust. Mixed results were reported due to settling issues.

President’s Report • Activities • Clean up was done by Sport n Play, DCA members –thank you! • West Carleton Fibre Guild continues to meet once per month – Still going strong! • Yoga and Zumba continue to run – Very popular programs – without the trailer community center bookings were limited during the winter • Summer Camps - City • Sport N Play before and after school program continues to our largest tenent

  5. Treasurer Report • A surplus was realized for 2014 • Canada Day and Ice Maintenance continues to be the largest expense by far • The DCA Building Fund is growing and plans to make some much needed repairs are moving forward

Outdoor Hockey • 40 kids - increase of 10! • 4 teams • 5-7, 8-9 and 10-12, 13-15 year olds  • The coaches kept the kids involved and engaged even on the coldest evenings which were not missed • Many thanks to Carole Merritt for coordinating the outdoor hockey league • They plan on having pizza and medals to wrap things up

Hockey • Outdoor Hockey for kids with special needs is in it’s 4th year • 20 children involved – up five from last year • Expecting to grow again next year • A trip to CTC for a skating party with Spartacus in March provided a fantastic finish • We had many gracious volunteers to help out on the ice

  11. Softball • 49 players summer 2014 • 3 teams • T-Ball • Mite • Atom • Squirts • 2 coaches   • Both diamond were busy Monday to Thursday evenings • Dunrobin was the host to the Atom Fun Day with 6 teams in participation • Many, many thanks to Lori magically makes all this happen!

  12. Softball • WC league had 21 teams total • 8 atoms, 7 Mites, 6 S/P Boys • 12 games over the 6 week season • Each team played one home and one away game each week

  13. Ice rink report • Excellent ice last year • Very expensive but turn key – as long as we can afford it we will continue this way • Fantastic year for skating. It’s still going! • The community center paid for supervision this year – it has it’s pros and cons

  14. Soccer for Kids With Special Needs • 30 kids 6-13 year old • 5 coaches participated • Year ended with a BBQ n treats party

  15. Zumba and Yoga • Zumba - new instructor • 42 participants – 1 volunteer – 1 paid instructor • Yoga • 62 participants – 1 volunteer – 1 paid

  16. Canada Day • Circus Delights was a fantastic show • The fireworks are becoming a signature for Dunrobin • Face painting, tattoos for kids • Bouncy Houses were back • Attendance was moderate this year • Heavenly Blue provided music for the festival

Volunteers • Goals for Youth Volunteers: • ·         Raise visibility and community involvement • ·         Provide job opportunity where referencing is possible • ·         Introduce new social skills (for many kids) that are not electronic • ·         Create sense of pride for accomplishment (reducing vandalism) • ·         Train the trainer is possible (improve self-esteem) • ·         Multiple possibilities where 40hr community service commitment can be obtained. • ·         Bring new ideas for programs from the younger generation to the community centre • ·         Learn to cook/clean (for many)

  18. Nominations - Directors • Per by-laws, max number of directors (including executive)=11 • Per by-laws, max number of executives=4 • 2 year term for directors • 1 year term for executives • Must be a director first then can be affirmed as an executive
