A gradual process of disrespect • People’s differences are not respected • Culture of ‘us ‘ and ‘them’ • Stereotypes and specific ‘names’ are used • A deliberate plan to shame and discriminate • Lies are spread to dishonour a group and to entice others to hate and discriminate • Hate turns to violence which the perpetrators see as ‘justified’
