FY 2014 NORTHWEST TRIBAL BUDGET PRIORITIES NATURAL RESOURCES: • Rights Protection Implementation • Western Washington Fisheries Management • Timber-Fish-Wildlife (TFW) Program • U.S. Canada Pacific Salmon Treaty Implementation • Salmon Marking Program • Fish Hatchery Maintenance • Columbia River Fisheries Management

FY 2014 NORTHWEST TRIBAL BUDGET PRIORITIES Public Safety and Justice: • Detention Centers • Outdated, dilapidated inadequate facilities • Tribal Courts • High costs and little or no increases to funding, decisions to arrest, prosecute, and detain will be based on financial restraints rather than the best interest of public safety

FY 2014 NORTHWEST TRIBAL BUDGET PRIORITIES Education • Scholarships and Adult Vocational Training • Inadequate funding doesn’t cover the needs in a downturned economy that is vital for obtaining employment at a living wage • Johnson O’Malley (JOM) • Tribes have to make tough choices and decrease the number of opportunities it provides for its Tribal members to gain a better education and to improve the livelihood for future generations.

  6. FY 2014 NORTHWEST TRIBAL BUDGET PRIORITIES “I am committed to upholding the President’s pledge to work directly with American Indian leaders to fulfill our treaty and trust obligations. The federal government has an obligation to work directly with federally recognized tribal nations on a government to government basis.” Secretary Ken Salazar
