  2. Why is this place so important? • A major Civil War battle was fought here, in Virginia, between Maj. Gen. Joseph Hooker and Gen. Robert E. Lee. • The battle of Chancellorsville was fought from April 30 to May 6, 1863. • The Confederacy won that battle.

  3. WHY SAVE CHANCELLORSVILLE? • Lt. Gen. “Stonewall” Jackson was wounded here by friendly fire and died. • Over 30,000 people died, were captured or wounded during this battle.It’s an insult to those people to destroy this battle field. • If we destroy this battlefield, people won’t care about this historyanymore. • The last thing the world needs is more buildings. http://members.tripod.com/andrew_dehart/
