Configuring Outlook • Domain joined clients create Outlook profile on first launch • Non-domain joined clients use Outlook Autodiscover service • Requires Outlook 2007 SP1 • Or Windows Mobile 6.1 based phones • Take-home package required for self-signed certificate • Using IAMW, everything is automatic • Manual steps required if not using GITME

  8. Windows Mobile Support • Small Business Server 2008 comes pre-loaded with server-side software for Windows Mobile connectivity Works best with Windows Mobile 6 devices and higher. Windows Mobile 5 is supported, but due to certificate issues, not recommended SBS Self-issued Certificate may or may not work, depending on how the device is locked by device provider

  9. POP3 Connector • Re-written for SBS 2008 • E-mail delivered through SMTP • All spam checks are in place • No support for global mailboxes • 5 minute minimum check

  13. A Real-World Perspective • Our experience with SBS 2008 • Exchange 2007 is a big, big change. It’s better… Webmail is now as good as Outlook 2007 • It’s a lot of work to migrate to SBS 2008, but worth it • As always, customers will do amazing things with the product • The way the Chamber is using the Sharepoint Wikis is changing their workflow and will make next year’s Ski to Sea much better • Three things we have learned and recommend • Install SBS 2008 in your environment. Eat the dogfood… • Build a relationship with your local Chamber. Our relationship will help grow our business for years • Using Vista, Office 2007, and SBS 2008 will make your customers very, very happy
