  1. Brooke, Thereesa, Mariah, Natalie, Paige Hunger Games

  2. “Long Live” By Taylor Swift You held your head like a heroOn a history book pageIt was the end of a decadeBut the start of an ageLong live the walls we crashed throughWhile the kingdom lights shined just for me and youI was screaming, long live all the magic we madeAnd bring on all the pretenders, one day we will be rememberedI said, remember this feelingI passed the pictures aroundOf all the years that we stood there on the sidelinesWishing for right now

  3. Brooke I chose the song “Long Live” by Taylor Swift to represent the Hunger Games because its lyrics show the reality of people turning into heroes. In the first paragraph of my lyrics it explains how someone made history for their accomplishments, just as Katniss and Peeta made history for District 12. The lyric “the walls we crashed through” describe the doubt Katniss broke through after winning the Hunger Games. The song creates a mood of great achievement and overcoming the odds.

  4. “Sweet Sacrifice” By: Evanescence It’s true, we’re all a little insane But it’s so clear Now that I’m unchained Fear is only in our minds Taking over all the time Fear is only in our minds But it’s taking over all the time

  5. Thereesa I chose the song “Sweet sacrifice” by Evanescence because it describes how the Hunger Games make the contestants feel. The tributes could go into the arena completely sane, with a stable plan to win, but the longer you survive, the more insane you become. Many people loose themselves during the Hunger Games and some even loose there sense of reality. The fear the capitol creates for the tributes is overwhelming and almost to much to bear at times. I also chose this song because I believe the capitol is insane for making the tributes kill each other in this horrendous environment. The song creates a mood of darkness and fear, which is exactly how the Hunger Games makes you feel.

  6. “Thousand Years” By: Christina Perri Heart beats fast Colors and promises How to be brave How can I love when I’m afraid To fall All of my doubt Suddenly goes away somehow I have died everyday waiting for you Darling don’t be afraid I have loved you for a thousand years I love you for a thousand more

  7. Mariah I chose the song “Thousand Years” by Christina Perri because I think this song relates to how Peeta feels about Katniss. Even before the HungerGames, Peeta was nicer to Katniss than anyone else. When Peeta burnt the bread on purpose at his bakery in order to give food to Katniss, it shows how much he cared for her. During the interviews, he announced that he was, and has been, in love with her for a long time in order to get donations, but I think he did this because that is how he really feels about Katniss. Then during the Hunger Games he told her that he has been in love with her since they started school, when he heard her sing. In the song “Thousand Years” it says “darling don’t be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years.” When I hear this lyric, I picture Peeta saying that to Katniss. The song creates a mood of happiness mixed with sorrow, just as the winning the Hunger Games made Katniss and Peeta feel.

  8. “What doesn’t Kill You” By: Kelly Clarkson What doesn't kill you makes you stronger Stand a little taller Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone What doesn't kill you makes a fighter Footsteps even lighter Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger Just me, myself and I ….

  9. Natalie Ichose the song “What doesn’t kill you” by Kelly Clarkson for the Hunger Games because it is exactly what happens in the arena. If you aren't killed by someone else, you become stronger and have more want to survive. When Kelly Clarkson uses the lyric “What doesn’t kill you makes a fighter” it reminds me of Katniss, because she was born a fighter. She never gave up even after several near death experience with fire balls, other contestants, and killer wasps. Another lyric that really stood out to me is the last part saying “Just me, myself, I…” because that is the mentality every tribute has to have in the back of their mind in order to survive the Hunger Games. When Rue dies , Katniss will never forget her , and that is what the lyric “Doesn’t mean I’m over cause you’re gone” reminds me of. The song creates a mood of hope and determination to over come struggles, which is exactly what District 12 accomplishes.

  10. “Waiting For the End” by Linkin Park 'Cause we're living at the mercy of The pain and the fear Until we dead it, Forget it, Let it all disappear. Waiting for the end to come Wishing I had strength to stand This is not what I had planned It's out of my control....(Oh!) I know what it takes to move on, I know how it feels to lie, All I wanna do Is trade this life for something new Holding on to what I haven't got

  11. Paige I chose the song “Waiting for the End” by Linkin Park to relate to the Hunger Games because it is about trying to resist fear and death. A line of the lyrics read –“Because we’re living at the mercy of the pain and the fear. Until we’re dead, forget it, let it all disappear.” The pain and the fear would relate to the Hunger Games and the capitol controlling the districts. In the book, Katniss, Peeta, and Rue are constantly fighting pain and fear in the games and even the fear they experience before they get to the capitol relates to that lyric. The lyric “waiting for the end to come, wishing I had strength to stand” reminds me of how Peeta was badly hurt and could not carry on. He was just waiting to die. Katniss and Peeta’s feeling in the beginning, after the drawing of tributes, could be summed up in the lyric “All I wanna do is trade this life for something new.” The song creates the feeling of doom and darkness, just as the feeling of the Hunger Games portrays to some tributes.
