  1. Hunger Games By: Jackie Tillotson

  2. Suzanne CollinsAfter she met James Proimosa children’s writer she was inspiredto stat writing herself. She statedwriting in 1991. Hunger Games hasbeen her biggest selling book.

  3. Protagonist • Katniss – she is the reason they make it out of the hunger games. • Gale – he is katniss’s friend and he is just always there for her. • Peeta – he is in the hunger games with katniss and he is in love with her. They work together to get out alive.

  4. Antagonist • The Capitol – they are the ones who set up the evil games. • Cato – he is in the games and he is trying to kill Peeta and Katniss, they are the last ones • The other fighters in the Hunger Games – they are all fighting and trying to kill each other. • The Hunger Games – it’s a poisonous atmosphere

  5. Favorite Characters • I would have to say that would be katniss and Peeta because they are so cute together in the book. I can’t even explain they are just the best they make the book get intense and add a lot of twists in the novel. They also are the reason the book is so good!

  6. Least Favorite Character • I would have to say Cato because he is the last one in the games with Katniss and Peeta. He is trying to kill them and hurts everyone in the games.

  7. Rising Action • I would have to say that its when they get in the games. The whole time they are fighting and trying to stay alive. Everyone is fighting against each other and they all have different talents that they use to try and stay alive.

  8. Exposition • In the book there are many characters but the mane ones are Katniss, Peeta, and they are what the book is about. They are the ones that are trying to stay alive in the hunger games. Peeta is in love with Katniss but she just is acting like she loves him so they can both stay alive.

  9. Climax • In the book they have a point where they are all on top of the cornicopia and there are wolfs after them and its peeta, Katniss, and Cato. They are trying to stay alive and Cato ends up falling off the cornicopia and the wolfs maul him. But he is still not dead so Katniss shots him with an arrow.

  10. Falling Action • Katniss and Peeta almost eat these poisonous berries so they will both die, but the game makers stop them and let them both live and win.

  11. Resolution • They went back to district 12 and everyone was so happy to see them and they got to move into the nice houses right outside of town and be back with there families. They also had to act like they were still in love in front of everyone just so they wouldn’t die and the capitol wouldn’t find out.

  12. Setting • The time that it takes place is in the future I would say because everything is so different they have districts and the Capitol controls everything. They are the head of all and they have these games called the Hunger Games where kids have to fight to the death. • The games take place in the Capitol and they make up a whole place for the games.

  13. Themes • Danger • Emotional • love • Rating of book: 10 this might have been the best book I have ever read I loved it. I never like to read and this is the one book that I wanted to keep reading.

  14. Social Issue • The social issue that I have decided to talk about is Ganges and how they have a very strong point stance in the world. In the book Cato, Peeta, and some others decide to gang up together and try and kill everyone else before they start going for each other. So this is the reason I have decided to do mine on gangs and why people join them.

  15. Why kids join gangs? • When I was doing my research I found out that the main reason kids joined gangs was because they wanted to feel protected. Many kids don’t have a great life at home, either they are beaten or there parents aren’t around much so they want to feel wanted, and be protected. Also for girls it’s a way for them to be noticed, it makes them feel important.

  16. How we can help • Kids today join gangs sometimes because they don’t have a very good life at home. Either there parents may not be home a lot or they may just not get along with them. But we can help by trying to have a good family life and get along with everyone in the house, try and be closer as a family and spent time with there kids.

  18. Poem By Hunter F., lemont, IL Gang Violence. Then there is another one of us dead Another one is shot, just for the fun There, another family must have dread. No reason, but just to fit in instead Just for enjoyment, another life is done Then there is another one of us dead. Another one is then lit up with lead Again another life taken by gun There, another family must have dread. Another man was then shot in head Another innocent life is undone Then there is another one of us dead. Now there are going to be more tears shed Maybe it was because of a small pun. There, another family must have dread. So there are more lives to be put to bed Another funeral has just begun Then there is another one of us dead There, another family must have dread.

  19. Statistics • About 90% to 94% are males and 6% to 10% are females in gangs. • Under 18 are 40% juveniles and 60% adults in jail • 60,000 to 80,000 female gang members in the U.S. • One out of three girls in gangs have been in special education.
