  5. Media Literacy • It is important for us to understand that all media is targeted. • In your groups lets look at various ads and see whom they are targeting, and the message that they are making.

Things to consider… • Who created this message? • What creative techniques are used to • attract my attention? • How might different people understand • this message differently? • What values, lifestyles and points of • view are represented in, or omitted • from, this message? • Why is this message being sent?

  7. FOXNEWS versus MSNBC • Compare and discuss

  8. Activity • Using the laptops, find a popular ad and describe its intention as well as its target. Copy the URL. • Go to my webpage, American Studies Blog, and follow the directions there.
