  3. OBJECTIVE • TEACHERS WILL BE ABLE TO: • Implement at least 3 new strategies to help students use and understand words with multiple meanings.

  4. VOCABULARY *Homonyms: -same spelling/pronunciation but different meaning -DATE, DATE Homophones: -same pronunciation but different spelling/meaning -Buy, Bye, By *Homographs: -same spelling but different pronunciation/meaning -Minute, Minute

  5. EXAMPLE ASSESSMENT QUESTION “Maybe you and I should play a match sometime,” she said. Which sentence below uses match in the same way as in the sentence above? • I could not find the match to my red sock • She is no match for him in the spelling bee. • He lost the match to someone more experienced. • My grandfather used a match to light the candle.

STATEGY 3CREATIVE LETTER WRITING • CHOOSE TWO MULTIPLE MEANING WORDS • DIRECTIONS: • Write a letter to ANYONE explaining to them the difference between the multiple meaning words. • Letters must include: • Definitions for each word (4 different definitions) • Example Sentences for each word (at least 4 sentences) • Salutations (DEAR ----, Sincerely, ------)
