  3. Cables • Cables are often used in engineering structure to support and or transmit loads from one member to another

Cables الكوابل هي نوع من الانظمة الانشائية الذي تقاوم القوى الخارجية التي يتعرض لها بواسطة اجهادات الشد التي تتولد بداخلة. وهو عبارة عن حبل مثبت من طرفية ومحمل بالأحمال في مواضع مختلفة منة كما في الشكل المقابل. وبما أن الحبل مرن ولا يقاوم عزوم الانحناء فأن كل القوى الداخلية في مقاطع هذا الحبل تكون من نوع واحد وهي قوى شد محورية. عندما يتعرض الكابل للأحمال المركزة يتشكل عل شكل أجزاء مستقيمة تصل بين مواضع هذه الاحمال وإذا كانت هذه الاحمال موزعة بانتظام فان الكابل يأخذ شكل القوس.
