  1. WELCOME TO THE LASALLE-PERU HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER

  2. Meet your Library Media Center staff: Mr. Dave Kelty - Library Media Specialist Mrs. Nancy Szuda – Library/Media Assistant Mr. Russ Anderson – Help Desk/Library Tech Assistant

  3. The Library Media Center opens every school day at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 3:15 p.m. Students are encouraged to use the Media Center for study and quiet reading before and after school.

  4. Library Passes • Students may use the library during study halls, lunch or classes upon presenting a SIGNED PLANNER by their teachers or other staff members. • Students must present their planner in person, sign in at the circulation desk, and remain in the library for the designated period.

  6. L-P Media Center Card Catalog Students are to use the Electronic Card Catalog Accessed via the library homepage, mobile app or library iPads.

  7. NORTH READING ROOM Biography – (4 columns) 921 Fiction - West Wall (North & South) Reference - North and East Wall Newspapers Magazines

  8. SOUTH READING ROOM Students will find our collection of non-fiction materials arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System in the Stack Area. • Drama • Short Stories

  9. ANTIPHONARY • One of many pieces of art that is displayed in the Media Center is the Antiphonary. • This book was produced by hand in a European monastery during the Middle Ages. • See library web page for more on history and art

  10. IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW

  11. There is to be no Food, Candy, Gum, or Drink in the Media Center. (Bottled water is permissible at tables only – not at computers) Please keep these snacks in your locker. Bookbags, backpacks and purses are not allowed in the library. 7th hour bags are to be left in the front of the library upon arrival.

  12. STUDENT I.D. CARDS For Library Check-out Students must present a Current School Year, PRESENTABLE ID Card when checking out or renewing Library materials.

  13. OVERDUE MATERIALS & FINES A fine of 10 cents per item per day is charged for overdue materials. Fines are charged only on days that school is in session.

  14. OVERDUE/FINE SLIP Overdue/Fine slips are distributed on Monday. If you receive one, please come to the Media Center as soon as possible.

  15. Library use and Library Obligations If you have a Library Fine and/or any Library overdue materials you may not enter the Library before or after school, nor will you be allowed to use the computers or check out materials until the obligations have been fulfilled.

  16. Lost or damaged materials must be reported to a member of the Library staff immediately. If you have lost a book, you are responsible for the cost of the book and any fine. These obligations must be taken care of before the end of the current semester.

  17. MEDIA CENTER COMPUTER RULES AND REGULATIONS

  18. You must receive permission from the Library staff before ANYPersonalelectronic device (excluding Chromebooks) may be turned on and/or used!

  19. PRINTING MATERIALS Black & White printing is available from the “Media Center Copier” for SCHOOL purposes at NO charge. Default is set to double-sided. Be sure to check the printer and/or your print options before printing!! B&W prints for personal use are 10 cents. If you are printing from the “Media Center Color Printer”there is a charge of 25 cents per page for school and/or personal copies. YOU ARE NOT CAPABLE OF PRINTING DIRECTLY FROM YOUR CHROMEBOOK IF YOU’RE NOT SURE, PLEASE ASK A MEMBER OF THE LIBRARY STAFF FOR ASSISTANCE!

  20. L-P Reads for Abe! • Awarded to the most outstanding book as voted by YOU - Illinois high school students • Just read at least 4 of the 22 nominated titles to be eligible to vote • Fill out ballot and place in box • Entries must be submitted by March 1 • Winner announced in March • Read for enjoyment, discover the best new books and authors and share your experiences with friends!
