Grey Literature Project Goal: defining the scope of HSR/HP grey lit though advisor input and "case study" interviews of grey lit producers • 5 producers of grey lit were interviewed • government agency, academic research institute, a foundation, think tank, advocacy non-profit org. • 5 additional sources filled out questionnaires www.nlm.nih.gov/nichsr/greylitreport_06.html

Grey Literature Results • Grey lit complements published lit • Grey lit is barometer of public interest subjects change as priorities change • Target audiences are policymakers, media, federal and state agencies, foundations, researchers and grantees • Many producers archive paper and some electronic grey lit – but have no formal policies
