  2. Lords Definition: people at the highest level of society who paid taxes and provided soldiers to the king Sentence: He granted plots of land to lords, or people of high rank.

  3. Peasants Definition: farmers who owned small farms Sentence: Peasants, or farmers with small fam, were ate the bottom of the order.

  4. Confucius Definition: a teacher who influenced Chinese history by coming up with ideas about how to restore order to China Sentence: One such person, Confucius, became the most influential teacher in Chinese history.

  5. Ethics Definition: principled values Sentence: Confucius said that the Chinese needed to return to ethnics or moral values.

  6. Confucianism Definition: Confucius’s ideas Sentence: The ideas of Coinfucius are known as Confucianism.

  7. Daoism Definition: a belief that emphasized living in peace with the Dao Sentence: Daoism stressed living in harmony with the Dao, the guiding force of all reality

  8. Laozi Definition: the best known Daoist teacher Sentence: Laozi was the most famous Daoist teacher.

  9. Legalism Definition: the belief that people have bad characteristics and needed to be guided Sentence: Legalism, the belief that people were bad by nature and needed to be controlled, contrasted with both Confucianism and Daoism.
