Research Space Allocation and Guidelines • Research Space allocation: • Section-based stewardship • Assigned space is not permanent • Shared utilization preferred • Grant support – running 3 year average/sq ft • Federal, non-federal, BU/BMC grants • Personnel and equipment needs • Common interests/methodology • See Policy and Guidelines

  4. Research Space Assignment • Wet lab space • Lab workers need assigned desk and bench space • Shared instruments, tissue culture, animal, etc. • Office space • Faculty assigned only one office • Non-faculty – desk space • Annual Inventory by Section/Research Unit • Federal and non-federal grant support

  5. Research Space Committee • Meet twice yearly to consider new space requests • Justification form or memo • Details of current space – rooms/benches • Current funding • Current personnel (FTE)/equipment • Rationale for additional space (New personnel, new equipment) • Suggested locations – may walk space with requestor • Originated or Endorsed by Section Head/Unit Director • Committee will make recommendation to Vice Chair Research based on DOM Space Policy
