What is the TAC? • Committee of trainee representatives • Representation from all 17 pathology training specialties • Trainee representative sit on other committees e.g. examinations committee, medical examiners committee etc. • Provide a report for the TAC meeting of relevant information • Meet twice a year (but contact throughout) • Very valued by the College – work very closely with the other committees and senior members

The role of the TAC? • We are here to represent each one of YOU! • We can put forward your concerns or queries to the College • Review documents/curricula/provide valuable trainee input for various projects • Making life easier for trainees! • If you have concerns regarding your training, it is important for you to let us know so that we can try and take it forward • Contributions to the trainee section of the College Bulletin

  5. How does it work? • We meet in March and November each year • 10 weeks in advance, you will be asked to submit questions/queries to your representative • These are then given to the Director of Learning & Director of Examinations who kindly formulates a response • Each question/query is discussed in the meeting with the Director of Learning and Director of Examinations • Trainees then receive the formal answer to their query • Administrative support from Clare Young

  6. Activity this year? • Bullying & harassment campaign • Differential attainment • Reporting of errors and mistakes in pathology • Video with Prof Sir James Underwood • Foundation Taster Event • Pathology Summer School • Foundation Competencies Study Day (in progress) • Not in the textbooks event (in progress) • Ongoing work related to pay issues in histopathology, pathology networks etc.

  7. Improving communication with trainees • Regular update emails throughout the year • Twitter updates • Features in the Bulletin about the work of the TAC • We are working all year round – approach us!
