  1. Officer Responsibilities:President • Preside over and conduct meetings according to accepted parliamentary procedure • Appoint committees and serve as an ex-officio member to each • Coordinate chapter activities • Review program of work with adviser and officer team • Maintain chapter correspondence • Show interest in the activities of the other officers and inspire them • Encourage public relations in the community by contacting speakers or guests for chapter meetings • Represent the chapter at special school events, civic clubs, and other out-of-school organizations

Officer Responsibilities:Vice President • Assist the president in the discharge of duties • Preside at meetings in the absence of the president and be prepared to assume the duties and responsibilities of the president should the need arise • Oversee all committee work • Serve as an ex-officio of chapter committees • Prepare the Local Chapter Annual Business Report

Officer Responsibilities:Secretary • Prepare the program of work once it has been approved by advisor(s) • Prepare and distribute minutes of each meeting • Prepare monthly chapter report and submit to president, vice president, and adviser • Provide the president with an agenda for each meeting • Count and record votes • Prepare correspondence for the chapter president

Officer Responsibilities:Treasurer • Prepare the chapter budget for the year • Keep an accurate count and roster of membership • Keep financial records neat and current • Plan appropriate fund-raising activities • Handle the chapter’s accounts receivable/payable • Encourage efficient money management • Prepare monthly financial reports for each meeting

Officer Responsibilities:Reporter • Develop media lists for chapter meeting • Plan public relations activities for the chapter • Gather and classify chapter news and send to FBLA-PBL national Web site • Prepare news releases and articles for publication in school and local newspapers • Submit news releases showcasing success at conferences and conventions • Prepare a local chapter newsletter at least twice a year • Assist the vice president with annual business report

Officer Responsibilities:Historian • File paper and electronic clippings and pictures of the chapter’s activities • Keep a chapter publicity and activity scrapbook and prepare an electronic slide show presentation for the end-of-the-year meeting • Assist the vice president with annual business report • Prepare bulletin boards with photos of chapter activities and projects

  7. Officer Responsibilities:Parliamentarian • Assist chapter members in understanding the basic purpose of parliamentary procedure • Advise the president and other chapter members on parliamentary procedure • Keep reference materials pertaining to parliamentary procedure available for each meeting (Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised)
