  5. Report writing - Assessment • Layout: title, headings, spacing, clear text organization (e.g. numbering), signature, name, position • Content: Task fulfilled? Makes sense? • Language: a) phrases typically used in a report, b) terminology, c)spell/gramm • General features: accuracy, concision, clarity, objectivity Each element: 2 points (tot.8/20)

  6. How to prepare? • read all the texts (RB,MK,addit. Sheets) • read all the slides (web) • do all the exercises • follow the instruction on how to prepare a text (see next slide)

  7. Preparing a text for the exam • Read the text • Underline unknown words/expressions • Find their meaning(dictionary, note-book, slides, web,...) • Make sure you understandall the text (sentence by sentence) • See which of the words/expressions in the text were important for this topic (slides, notebook) • Explain their meaning in simple English • Retell the main message of the text orally • Think what exercisescould be expected in the test REVISE!

  8. Typical mistakes • learning dictionary definitions by heart • not reading the texts carefully or not reading them at all • thinking that preparation takes little time (students with good English) • thinking it is impossible to prepare properly (students with weaker English)
