Lift Gate Safety Precautions • Read the operators manual prior to operating if you are unfamiliar with the equipment • Take note of the warning decals, they are there for a reason • Always be aware of your surroundings, look for other people, or objects that could make the situation unsafe • Don’t stand under the lift gate when operating

Lift Gate Safety precautions • Keep fingers, toes, nose, arms, legs, and feet clear of moving parts and pinch points • Don’t exceed the load capacity of the lift gate • Don’t allow children to operate, ride, or play on the lift gate • In the event of an emergency let go of the toggle switch • A properly functioning lift gate will operate smoothly, if not get it fixed

  10. Lift Gate Precautions • If you operate the lift gate improperly you or someone else could be seriously injured • If you aren’t familiar with the lift gate, get help. Better to be safe than sorry • Make sure the tractor and trailer are stable • Always inspect the lift gate prior to operating • Do not over load the liftgate

  11. Lift gate precautions • The load should be at the edge closest to the trailer • Do not place the heaviest part of your load at the edge farthest away from the trailer • Do not anyone to stand near the lift gate when there is a possibility the could be hit by the lift gate or falling product

Lift gate precauttions • If you have someone with you on the lift gate, make sure they know you are getting ready to move the lift gate • Common sense goes a long way when operating the lift gate • If you think the situation is unsafe, don’t operate the lift gate until the unsafe condition is corrected
